Stories

'Stories' is an attempt to document the journey of Japanese language learning of the educators, learners, academics and industry professionals in India. This Archive hopes to provide those who are currently engaged and future learners in Japanese language to listen to the real voices of  people from various parts of India, their motivations, achievements, dreams and aspirations.

Nissim Bedekar

Nissim Bedekar is known for his numerous Marathi translations of Japanese short stories and as of recording this interview is working as an assistant professor in the Department of Asian Languages, The English and Foreign Languages University. He talks about his first encounter with Chinese characters in a restaurant as a high school student in Pune and how that chance encounter led him to learning Japanese.
